As Promised

As you can see, I am a man of my word. I am actually doing a post with some real content.

I dont know how many of you are familiar with satellite radio, or XM to be specific. I have been a subscriber for a couple of years and will never go back to regular commercial radio. It used to be the only thing I would listen to on commercial radio was Howard Stern, but his whining and complaining got to be wayyyyyyy too much, and I have discovered former competitors of his, Opie and Anthony (www.opieandanthony.com). They, along with their sidekick comedian Jim Norton (www.eatabullet.com), have a decent morning radio show, at least in my opinion. Anyway, the reason I am introducing them on this colum, is that a couple of weeks ago, a news reporter for CBS2 in NYC ( I dont get that channel, but it doesnt really matter), Arthur Chien, was fired from his job. Why you might ask? Well, it seems that there were two gentlemen standing behind Mr. Chien, one of whom happens to be an intern for the above mentioned program, and the other a devotee of Stern (Crazy Cabbie). The intern was doing what they call an "assault on the media", which, as they put it, is just trying to get their name on TV without paying for it. All he was doing was holding a sign up and saying "O and A XM Satellite Radio Rocks!!" They did not assault him at all, nor did they shout obscenities at him. Now, right in the middle of his report, Mr Chien turned to them and said...."What the fuck is your problem, man!". Of course this went out on LIVE television, and the reporter was subsequently fired. Now, O and A are getting tons and tons of flack from the newspapers, tv stations, and other media outlets saying that it was THEIR fault that the reporter lost his job. I dont know about you, but I think that is a load of bullshit! If this moron cant 1.) control his temper/mouth/language, and 2) doesnt know when he ISNT on camera, it is his own fault and should take responsibility for his own actions. It just cheeses me off that the media is portraying him as the victim here, and not stepping up and calling a spade a spade. What they did might not have been professional or nice, but it hardly deserves being made a scapegoat out of.

Oh yeah, video of the incident can be found at http://www.foundrymusic.com/opieanthony/displaymedia.cfm/div/opieanthony/id/9919

I know, I know, I know

Sorry that I have gone MIA lately, but due to work and other things (i.e.: incessant poker playing) I have not updated my blog. Hopefully I will have some time tomorrow to post a couple of things on my mind and to bitch about a bad beat.....(maybe only just this once....maybe not)

Night All!
