Well...........

..................the dream is over. I got knocked out of the WSOP Main Event at about halfway through level 5 (after the dinner break). I know that it has taken a long time for me to actually post this news. This is a very tough post for me as I guess this whole experience has been more overwhelming that I could ever imagine. Anyone that says poker isnt a sport, I now believe is insane. The amount of focus and mental acuity that it takes to be able to think clearly and make intelligent decisions is immense. After I busted out and had to take that long walk......under the watchful eyes of the ESPN Cameras (I hope that footage ends up on the cutting room floor, as I dont think I could watch it again), I felt physically and emotionally drained. I just wanted to drop to the floor and curl up in a ball. A couple of late night phone calls from my poker "confidants" at dbpoker picked my spirits up a bit, and gave me the strength to lend my support to the other remaining player from our group. And he MADE IT!!!! That makes two people on to the next day, and we have one more person playing as I am writing this, and he doubled up through a famous pro, "Minneapolis" Jim Meehan. I am gonna cut this short as I am still sorting everything in my mind and need to go over the notes I made from my time in the tournament, and have some interesting stories (I hope) to share with all of you. If you want to see a pic of me at the table, click on this link: http://www.printroom.com/ViewGalleryPhoto.asp?userid=wsop&gallery_id=210433&image_id=21 and it will take you to the official photo of me in the tournament. Stay tuned...........

Day Two in Vegas.....The insanity begins!!!!

Hello from Sin City once again!!! The madness that is referred to as the "World Series of Poker Main Event" has started! It looks like there are 5700 entrants to the tournament, but no news on what the prize pool will be, but it will be MASSIVE!!!! This is just ONE corner of the tournament area, and the place is just jammed packed...you can barely move around, its tough to watch any of your friends play. My big day is tomorrow, at 11am PST, where hopefully I can do some damage......I will be there ready to go....rockin the new hair (Thanks, Dev!!!) Going to be an early night for me, have to rest up.....but the great news is....one of the DBPoker.com crew knocked out a big name pro.......actually a World Champion!!!! And before you assume it was Raymer, it wasnt. It was '98 Champion Scotty Nguyun! Nord is the man! I am off for the evening.....keep your fingers crossed for me!

Day one in Vegas

Well.....I am finally here....Sin City! Left for the airport at about 6:30am EST, and finally arrived in Vegas at 1:30pm PST. Not the most ideal travel conditions, but made it here with a bascially uneventful trip. Got to the hotel.....room is nothing to scream about, but I do have a nice view of the strip, which is VERY cool at night. After check-in, I decided to head over to the Rio to check in for the tournament and get my credentials. Then I walked around the "WSOP Poker Lifestyle Convention" for a bit and they had all sorts of gambling companies, everything you can possibly imagine. After that, I decided to check out the Tournament area.....it is IMMENSE!!!!! Went out with the DBPoker.com crew for dinner, and had a blast getting to know the people that I had only known from posting in a poker forum. I will hopefully have some pictures soon!
